Our Story

Judge Hale Farm is a small family farm in Barrington, New Hampshire, run by Daniel & Elisabeth O'Lone and our three kids.

We bake our breads and treats from scratch, and our sourdough is made with organic flour. We also raise multi-colored laying hens, pasture-raised chickens, and pigs. We keep bees for our own honey and grow vegetables in the summer.

Stop by the farm stand Friday-Sunday, 8am to dark. If the OPEN flag is out, we're open!

Our History

Judge Samuel Hale – An Important Figure in Barrington’s History

Judge Samuel Hale (1758–1828) was a prominent early resident of Barrington, New Hampshire, and an influential member of one of the town’s founding families. He established himself in Barrington in the early 1780s, building his home on Province Road around 1784 with assistance from his father, Major Samuel Hale.

Hale was a successful businessman with interests in lumber, general merchandise, tanning, and shipbuilding. Beyond his business ventures, he played an active role in public life, serving as a Barrington Selectman, State Representative, State Senator, and Presidential Elector. During the War of 1812, he attained the rank of Major General in the New Hampshire Militia and later served as Judge of the Court of Common Pleas for New Hampshire’s Eastern Circuit from 1813 to 1816.

Judge Hale also had a notable family connection to American history: he was a first cousin of Captain Nathan Hale, the Revolutionary War patriot remembered for his famous final words, “I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.” Their fathers, Major Samuel Hale and Deacon Richard Hale, were brothers.

Judge Samuel Hale died in 1828, leaving behind a legacy woven into the early development of Barrington. His home, family, and contributions to the community remain an important part of the town’s history.
